4月5日消息 宫本茂在接受媒体采访时表示，任天堂并不打算将移动平台作为马里奥游戏未来的主要游戏途径。
宫本茂表示：“首先，任天堂的核心战略是硬件和软件的整合游戏体验。控制的直观性是游戏体验的一部分。”
他表示：“当我们对手机上制作马里奥游戏的可能性进行探讨时，认为这是一个具有普遍性的通用设备，而很难确定在这种设备上的游戏应该以怎样的形式出现。这就是我为什么要在《超级马里奥酷跑》项目中担任监督角色，我们要将任天堂的硬件体验转化为只能设备上的游戏。”
宫本茂承认，在移动平台推出马里奥游戏使该系列获得更广泛的受众群体，也扩展了游戏体验。
任天堂在手游上还是有不错成绩的，比如2016年《超级马里奥酷跑》首年赚取6000万美元。2019年《马里奥赛车巡回赛》大赚3亿美元。
至于马里奥系列的新作，宫本茂表示大家可以期待一下接下来的任天堂直面会。
